Thought for today: Wed. 5/13/15
SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY LIFE

“Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience.”  — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Racing through life is very stressful. If we stay in high gear too long, we lose our ability to down shift. And when we’re
(di-)stressed, we can’t access fun, happiness, appreciation, compassion, generosity, awareness of beauty and other wonderful qualities. High stress also triggers negative emotions like frustration, impatience, anger and fear.

Life has so much to offer if we will slow down and truly experience it. We must always remember that we are the ones in control of the accelerator. We CAN choose to brake.

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast — you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.”  — Eddie Cantor

*Never have time for what you really want in life? Take control of the time of your life by changing your mind. Understand time from a higher perspective.

Readings for today:
Philippians 4:4-9; Romans 12:1-3

Thanking God for Great Moms Everywhere

For every special Mom in your life, not only today, but everyday, I encourage you to honor each one by seeking out just the right Scripture that describes how she inspires you. Maybe it’s your own mom. Maybe it’s a friend, a confidante who always seems to have great life advice right when you need it. Or maybe you’ve noticed a neighbor who takes great care of her child(ren) as well as those within your community.

Whether it’s with a visit, a call, a text, or even posting a scripture verse privately to her Facebook page, take a moment to let the moms in your life know how special they are in your life. Here are just a few of my favorite inspirational passages to help get you started:

*Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does always protects, delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
(I Corinthians 13:4–7 NIV)
LOVE HER
*An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
(Proverbs 31:10 ESV)
HONOR HER
*…we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
(Romans 8:28 NLT)
ENCOURAGE HER

         My Prayer of Thanksgiving
Thank you Lord for four (4) generations. Thank you Lord for the greatest ministry…      “FAMILY.” May we forever remain in the palm of your hands and under your Almighty Shadow. Lord continue to add generations who love and reverence your Greatness, and acknowledged YOU ARE THEE ONE TRUE GOD, & BESIDES YOU THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER! Amen

Some days I just feel like singing! 🎤
          💿“I Won’t Complain”

I won’t complain

I’ve had some good days
I’ve had some hills to climb
I’ve had some weary days
I’ve had some sleepless nights
But when I look around
And I think things over
All of my good days
Outweigh my bad days

So I won’t complain

Sometimes the clouds hang low
I can hardly see the road
And then I ask the question
Lord why so much pain
But He knows what’s best for me
Although my weary eyes can’t see

So I’ll just say thank you Lord
I won’t complain

God’s been so good to me
The Lord has been so good to me
More than this old world
Or you could ever be
The Lord has been so good to me
And He dried my tears away
And He turn all my midnights into days

So I’ll say thank you Lord
I just say thank you Lord
I’ll just say thank you Lord
I won’t complain 👏👏👏

April 19 (wk17) – Longsuffering
There are times we must guard our hearts and minds when dealing with those whose underlining agenda is to cause harm or dissension. However ; Jesus states that we are to have love for our enemies: (Matt. 5:43~48)
You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pay for those who persecute you, that you may be sons off your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil as well as the good, and send rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?…If you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
I am very aware that this feels unbearable at times; especially when you need a listening human ear. All the advice I am able to share tonight is to: GO WITH GOD…“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from ~~ or seen in me,~~ put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with YOU .” (Phil. 4: 7, 9).
My prayer is that someone may have been blessed or will be blessed according to God’s  Holy Wisdom. May you find yourself in the presence of His precious Holy Spirit and the arms of His dear Son, Jesus our Saviour❤

Peace & Blessing,
Rev. Bonita, Pastor

Police investigation winding down after deaths of father, children ruled accidental.

Somerset County schools bring in extra counselors to help deal with ‘unprecedented’ tragedy.

Teachers and students at Washington High School and Academy in Princess Anne are trying to return to a routine.

But it’s not easy, Principal Sidney Hankerson said.

Not when they’re grieving the loss of 15-year-old freshman Tyjuziana Todd, who along with her six siblings and their father, Rodney, were found dead in their home Monday of carbon monoxide poisoning.

“We had a few staff members who had a hard time coming to terms with what happened,” Hankerson said Wednesday. “For some it was rough. They had to leave the room and gather composure, especially when it came to class time.”

Shock and disbelief in a small Eastern Shore community. Carbon monoxide claims the lives of a father and his seven children–all found dead inside their home. Rick Ritter reports.

The tiny Somerset County school system had to bring in extra counselors from outside districts and the health department to help deal with the tragedy, schools spokesman Leo Lawson said.

The seven Todd children attended three of the district’s 10 schools. Tyjuziana attended Washington High; Cameron, 13, and Tykeria, 12, attended Somerset Intermediate; and Tynijuzia, 10; Tyniah, 9; Zhiheem, 7; and Tyberyia, 6, attended Princess Anne Elementary.

“This one was unprecedented,” said Lawson, who noted that the school system was still reeling from the death of a student in a car accident before spring break. “Teachers are struggling with it.”

MARYLANDCarbon monoxide blamed in deaths of father, 7 children in

Princess Anne police were called to the family’s home Monday after Todd’s supervisor at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore — where Todd worked in dining services — grew concerned because he had not talked to him since March 28. Inside, they found all eight family members dead. It appeared that they had gone to sleep for the night and never awakened, police said.

Police found a generator with an empty gas tank inside the home. Lloyd Edwards said his stepson used the generator because the electricity had been shut off.

Delmarva Power said the home had been without service since March 25, when workers discovered a stolen electric meter and shut off power for “safety reasons.” The utility originally disconnected power there in October, before the Todds began renting the home, and Delmarva said no request had been made to reconnect service.

This one was unprecedented. Teachers are struggling with it.- Schools spokesman Leo Lawson

Police said Wednesday that they were winding down their investigation after the medical examiner determined that the deaths were accidental.

Somerset County Commissioner Craig N. Mathies Sr., whose district includes the Todds’ modest, yellow-siding-covered home on Antioch Avenue, said of the children’s father: “I know he was trying to provide for them, but that’s putting your family in extreme danger.

“It’s just a sad sad change of events,” Mathies said. “It really points to the fact that our society can go all around the world and we have so many people who are in need, people who are trying to provide for their families and you have a tragedy like this.”

Family members said they were making funeral arrangements.

“We had a lot of church members come to the home last night, family members and friends,” said Edwards, Todd’s stepfather. “A gathering of people sitting back and talking, expressing condolences. Some stayed four or five hours.”

The funeral for Todd and his children will be held April 18 at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Viewing is at 10 a.m. and services are at 1 p.m. at the Ella Fitzgerald Center for the Performing Arts.

Edwards’ wife, Bonnie, described each of her grandchildren.

Tyjuziana was a “laid-back type of lady” who helped out around the house and watched over her younger siblings. Cameron was a 6-foot-3 basketball
and football player, a “respectful young man,” she said.

Tykeria was outgoing and regularly joked around with her siblings and friends.

Tynijuzia loved playing a Nintendo Wii dance game her father had bought the children, and she challenged anyone willing to a dance-off, including her grandmother.

Tyniah would have turned 9 in May. She brought home report cards full of As and Bs to Edwards, who gave her grandchildren $1 for each “A” they earned in school.

Zhiheem, 7, “thought he was a wrestler,” she said. He tore around the house, “jumping and flipping on the beds.”

The youngest, Tyberyia, had her sixth birthday on Saturday. “She was such a happy, jolly person who admired her father. She loved her father,” she said.

At Washington High School, Hankerson said that since the tragedy, students in Tyjuziana’s English class released balloons with her name on it. The school also hung a large poster across one of the entryway walls where students have been writing messages remembering her.

The student government has been selling purple ribbons — Tyjuziana’s favorite color — to raise money for her family, or possibly a charity to remember her.

And on Friday, Hankerson said, the school is planning to adorn the school building’s two front columns with bows — one to remember her, another to remember her family.

“It’s just a tragic incident. I know it will take maybe months if not years to truly heal from this. I think during times like this, the community comes together,” he said.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:33
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
There comes a point in time when we have to man (or woman) up and take responsibility for our own life. That time is now. No more can you blame your parents, your teachers, or lack of opportunities, for who you are or who you are becoming. The Bible tells us that “we are more than conquerors”  through Christ, which doesn’t leave much room for excuses (Romans 8:37). Jesus said it, so we better believe it!

Too often people allow the past circumstances to determine the future outcome. The only power that your past has over your future is the power that you give it. God has a great plan for your future so quit making excuses as to why or how you can’t get there. Take responsibility for the person you are today and trust that God will provide you with all you need to become the person He is calling you to be. Jesus doesn’t agree with our excuses nor does He affirm us when we play the blame game. As He said to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Your weaknesses are simply opportunities for Jesus to reveal His grace in your life.

• Do you recognize any situation, limitation, or person in your life who you’re blaming for how things have turned out for you?
• Choose to take responsibility for your life and trust that Jesus will turn any weakness into a strength for His glory and for your joy.

“…I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us” (Philippians 3:13-14).

March WK (13) —Breathe

Let everything that breathes sing praises to the lord ! Praise the lord Psalms 150:6 NLTNLT

There comes a time when we Loving praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow!

We  MUST TRUST GOD to ….’B r e a t h e’

It Starts With Me Loving Jesus The mostmost.

*You don’t get to have a godly relationship without first being godly yourself. Instead of pursuing a relationship, spend your time pursuing Jesus. He’ll take care of the rest.

Even as a middle schooler, you may have thought about eventually getting married. While you probably picture a happy, fun, romantic life as a married man or woman, that doesn’t just happen overnight. It starts with me, and it starts with me loving Jesus more than I could possibly love another human.

Many of us think that we have gaps that can only be filled by our soulmate. The truth is that no matter how “perfect” the person you end up with may be, it still won’t be enough. If you want to have dating relationships that are successful in the eyes of Jesus, you have to seek Him, ask what He wants for you, and listen to what He thinks about dating. It starts with you submitting to Jesus. Only after you’ve gotten to the point where Jesus is your everything will you be whole enough to make a good wife or husband for someone else.

*So don’t wait until you’ve met that person that you want to be with. Don’t wait until college is over to be more selective about who you date. Put Jesus first now and trust Him to bring about the right person at the right time. By doing this, you’ll get His best for you and avoid a lot of unnecessary heartache.

• Think about your current relationship(s)

  1. Is there anything about them that hurts your relationship with Jesus?
  2. What could you do practically to put Jesus first?

• The Bible makes it clear that Jesus’ highest priority for you is to love Him. Do you live like He is your highest priority? Spend time journaling through where you are at in your relationship with Him. He can handle the truth! You don’t get to have a godly relationship without first being godly yourself. Thought For Today: Sun. 3/14/15 🗽FREEDOM OF THE MIND 🗽 🆓🆓

Being changed by Christ means understanding who you really are in Him. You are His disciple.

We all have the ability for change according to Matthew 9:9-13;16:21-28. From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.  Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.  But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.om God’s Word about what a disciple is and explore the various things disciples do. According to the Holy Writ (Matthew 9:9-13; 16:21-28) From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.  And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that’s meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. From that time forth Jesus began to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
